Comprehensive Plan Update - Next Steps (9:30 a.m.) Details: The City is in the midst of updating its Comprehensive Plan. This planning effort can be characterized as a community wide process of putting down on paper the vision, goals, hopes and dreams the community holds for itself. The Comprehensive Plan functions as a map that is intended to lead and guide the community to a desired outcome. The first phase of this update included a Visioning Process (see January 16, 2015, Council Workshop Agenda - Planning Conference). The attached schedule reflects a timeline and steps for the next phase of the update which includes the assessment of the current Comprehensive Plan, the development of Comprehensive Plan Goals and Policies, zoning and associated mapping. As part of the discussion on this topic, staff requested that Council consider establishing and holding to key over arching principles or values related to economic development that help drive and form the development of the Comprehensive Plan update.
