Subject: Communication sponsored by Alder West, on behalf of the City Attorney, requesting the City Attorney present a proposed settlement for the workers compensation and duty disability claims of Steven Beal. Recommendation of the Finance and Personnel Committee on 05-13-2024: To approve the settlement as presented. Fiscal Note: Indemnity payment of $110,000 to Officer Beal; certification by City of Duty Disability application once filed by Officer Beal; Continued health insurance per City policy with reimbursement of $16,000 for out of pocket medical expenses and a hold harmless against the health plan reimbursement/subrogation interest, and for any unpaid expenses, the City reserves the right to process those bills under health insurance, or request a bill review or negotiate with the providers. The indemnity payment and out of pocket expenses shall be paid from Account 11201 51400, Workers Compensation.
