CURRENT LANGUAGE: "It shall meet at the call of the mayor, or acting mayor, to consider such matters as may be referred to it by the mayor or common council, and its report shall be made to the council in accordance with sections 2-84 through 2-96 of this Code." PROPOSED LANGUAGE: "It shall meet at the call of the mayor, or acting mayor, to consider matters referred to it by the mayor or common council. When an item has been formally referred to a standing committee by the common council, that item shall proceed through its designated committee process. The executive committee shall not alter or redirect such referred items except by a two-thirds vote of the members present, and any such redirection must be made through a formal motion and recorded vote, in accordance with sections 2-84 through 2-96 of this Code."
