  1. The Common Council may convene in closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(g) for the purpose of conferring with legal counsel regarding legal advice and strategy with respect to litigation in which it is or is likely to become involved; specifically, to discuss legal strategy related to procedures for disposition of the petition seeking the removal of Mayor David Ament from office. Please note: Wisconsin's Open Meetings Law permits governmental bodies to convene in closed session for certain limited purposes expressly authorized by statute. The Common Council will initially convene in open session, at which time the statutory basis and purpose of the proposed closed session will be announced, consistent with the above. An appropriate motion and recorded majority roll-call vote of the Council are required before entering closed session.</span></em><span style="font-size: 12px;"><br><br></span><em><span style="font-size: 12px;">No action concerning the substance or merits of the petition for removal of the Mayor will be taken during closed session. Any subsequent action requiring Council consideration will be addressed in accordance with Wisconsin law and applicable public notice requirements.
