- B. Consideration of Minutes
- 6 July 1, 2024 Minutes
- C. Action Items
- 1. AAA Board Vice-Chair Election
- 2. Recommendation to approve Robin Potter to the AAA Nutrition and Wellness Committee I have been a kitchen volunteer at the Oregon Senior Center since March 2023 and really enjoy the work and the interaction with other volunteers and with the seniors who are served there. I have volunteered with various food pantries off and on over the past 10 years including St. Vincent DePaul in Madison and the Oregon Food Pantry. I continue to be involved with Blue Moon CSA (for ~15 years) as the receiver of a produce share and as a volunteer. I was involved in my mother's care in the memory care unit at Oakwood West for 5 years and was both an observer and participant in their meal service and nutrition services for my mom. In my profession I was a registered dietitian working primarily in hospitals starting in Illinois in 1979 and spending the rest of my career as a dietitian at Madison General/Meriter/UPH-Meriter in 1982, retiring in March 2020. The favorites parts of my job over the years were translating nutrition prescriptions into actual meals and helping people make sense of nutrition information. Being a hospital-based dietitian, I had a lot of interaction with older adults and saw what a core part of their care nutrition was...and how we often fell short of providing the best possible food to older adults in the hospital. At the other end of the spectrum, I worked with pregnant women in the UW Perinatal Clinic at Meriter where 80% of my job was helping women with gestational diabetes understand the diet. I would be very happy to be able to better understand the work of caring for seniors in our area and to draw on my background to contribute whatever I can to the committee.
