3. 3 The May 19, 2026 Commission on Sensitive Crimes meeting will be a hybrid meeting. Members of the public can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom. The public can attend in person at ADRC room 109. The public can access the meeting virtually with the Zoom application or by telephone. 12. 12 1. Agency Updates Barry reported for DAi'S the Legal Advocacy program is fully staffed, the staff will have a bit of crossover of staff. Extremely short staffed in shelter, many other positions helping in with shelter. The DAi'S luncheon is happening and they are also working on RFP's for Human Services Funding. They will still be facing a 61% reduction in services and programs. The helpline and text line will always be there but the legal advocacy is a great program and has a great outcome, hoping to preserve this program. Liston reported for Meriter, Sonja's last day will be next week and 2 other per diem staff will be leaving. They will be left with 4 FNE staff but they have 2 new staff coming in to cover night shifts after training. Ginsburg reported for Safe Harbor, they had a successful fundraiser which is great news. they are fully staffed and they are hoping to have operational space for FNE's as well. Kato reported for The Rainbow Project, spending time on funding and continuing interviewing and hiring process. There are ongoing interviews and very grateful for the interest from the community. Requests from Community about observations in the classrooms (concerns about behavior and more trauma informed). The integrated health team will be taking a look at new things. Freeman reported for Adult Protective Services at Dane County, they are dealing with budget cuts and looking at how that will impact the work going on. Dane County is in a hiring freeze currently so no new staff to train or take on currently. Brown reported for the District Attorney's Office, they are feeling the struggles of the hiring freeze and are dealing with the budget issues in Dane County. Dr Rosado is a new position at American Family Children's Hospital, he comes from Cook County and he has some great insights. Governor's Computation policy to reduce sentences that are currently service prison sentences, only one person has applied thus far for this. The 3rd floor of the Courthouse is going through a remodel that will take between 9-12 months. A temporary 4th floor DA's office will be there in July and a lot of the staff will be working from the courthouse during this time. Lt. Vossburg reported for the City of Madison Police Department they are working on Dane MAC, they have this in addition to Meriter. Two detectives came back from a recent training and they are constantly working to better the knowledge they have Pellebon reported for RCC, they are understaffed on the on-call, hired three new people but it will take a few weeks to train them. Searching for an Outreach Specialist and there are a few other internal moves and people are adjusting. CCS billing has been a big push, they are working on Medicade billing to supplement the money and the county can not guarantee funding of any sort at this time. Purchase of Service agencies are incredibly concerned about the county budget and wondering what will stay and what will go and understanding that all services will warp a bit and will look different. 2. CCR Updates Pellebon reported for DV/SA CCR is looking for new members and is having a open meeting on June 4th from 12-1 PM in the community. Survivors survey is being done and has noted a large issue with mental health access in the community, extreme issues with people accessing services, long waits and transportation to services are hard. Aguilar reported for I/DD CCR in April, Joy Schmidt presented at the CCR about Dementia. July 15th is the next meeting and they meet on a quarterly basis not monthly so there should be additional updates next meeting. Scarr reported for Elder Abuse CCR, World Elder Abuse Awareness day is June 15th. One of the very popular events is the Shred Fest (June 12th at Warner Park), this year will also have a handheld electronic recycling program. June 10th they will be at Hilldale Farmers Market at an event they are doing in collaboration with the Department of Financial Institutions. Financial Abuse Specialist Team has been meeting, a few things came up and one is that Madison is going to have a new Men's Homeless Shelter (Bartillion Drive) about 250 beds and they will prioritize homeless older adults over the age of 65, will be an overnight shelter at first but hopefully can morph to a day shelter as well. Also discussing safety and older adults and families, a few folks have been worried about this or wanting to learn more and how to meet people on their terms and means. Domestic Violence in Later Life will be a half day virtual conference and will be partnering with Bridge to Hope. The conference will be Thursday, November 12th and will be focused on sexual abuse and sexual safety and technology. Kato reported for the DV/SA CCR, they are collection questions for the survey they are sending out, they are asking providers and consumers questions, each of the CCR members will submit questions for each and they will fine tune those and have a steering committee lead those. Grandparents who are parents are growing and have a possible intersection with Elder Abuse CCR. DV/SA CCR went to PPJ, County Board and City Council to discuss Mental Health Awareness Month or Trauma Awareness Month and discussing the importance of how we can work together to help protect elders and being more collaborative. 3. Legislative Updates Welsh reported for the County Board, they surveys Kato mentioned have been incredibly useful and new CCS contracts have come through the board and HHN and that's one area we do have space to charge back to Medicade and continued approaches on how to charge where we can. The executive's State of the County address is this Thursday afternoon at 2 PM, hoping to hear more about the budget and can report back to the Commission.
