The City of Laredo Mayor and Council recognize students from U.I.S.D. and L.I.S.D. who competed in the annual American Legion Oratorical Competition, hosted by the American Legion Arturo T. Benavides Memorial Post 59 in Laredo. High school students delivered prepared speeches on selected topics about the U.S. Constitution, and scholarships were awarded. The program was led by District 23 Commander Jose M. Gamez.
