Authorizing the City Manager to amend the City of Laredo Police Department Special Police Fund FY 2023-2024 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Position listing by adding fifteen police cadet positions under the COPS Hiring Program (CHP). Funding will be provided by the U.S. Department of Justice, Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) Program for a period of thirty-six months. The COPS CHP grant portion will fund $1,875,000.00 (max. federal share - $125,000.00 per position) and the City of Laredo is required to match $2,481,905.00. Funding is available under the Special Police Fund - COPS Hiring Program.
