Discussion and possible action regarding the Traffic Safety Grant award from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, the Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funds. This award in the amount of $505,702.05, is for continued funding of two deputy/instructors for the Rollover Simulator, Impaired Driving and Distracted Driver programs. Funds for a bilingual traffic safety instructor for special events. The award will also include overtime for deputies working high visibility traffic safety enforcement, occupant safety and drug and alcohol enforcement in Oklahoma County to continue reduction of injuries and deaths on Oklahoma County roadways. The award also provides for in-state travel, travel funds for the traffic safety educators to attend the Lifesavers Conference, operating costs and fatal vision goggles, a new Chevrolet Pick Up and rollover simulator. The award will be completed online certified by the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. Captain David Baisden will complete all programmatic reporting.
