The Board discussed the following items: a) Supervisor Powers reported that U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has secured $5 million in Congressional directed spending for the IDD Center and the Center for Non-Violence. This funding will allow the centers to expand their services and enhance the programs they provide to the community. Additional details will be shared as they become available. Supervisor Powers also expressed interest in organizing a visit in April for the other Supervisors to tour the center and learn more about its programs and impact. b) Bill Lavers discussed his ongoing conversations with legislators regarding the revolving grant fund. He has collaborated with the six coastal counties and included Hattiesburg in a joint application effort to strengthen their chances of receiving funding.
