LaMarques Ogans, Area Developer for i9 Sports-Gulfport, discussed a proposed partnership aimed at expanding youth access to sports programs and reducing summer camp costs along the Gulf Coast. Mr. Ogans stated that he has rented the Espy Soccer Fields since 2019 to conduct summer camps and that more than 1,000 children have participated during that time. Mr. Ogans requested a reduced rental rate for the Espy Soccer Fields for the month of June in order to help lower-income families afford registration. He further explained that the reduced rate would allow for an increase in the number of scholarship opportunities available to participating children. After full discussion, the Board adopted an ORDER taking this request under advisement pending the receipt of additional information from Mr. Ogans.
