The Board discussed the following: a) President Barrett requested an update from County Engineer Jaci Turner regarding the timeline for the Emergency Disaster Debris Cleanup contract, emphasizing that the County is already within hurricane season and the previous contract has expired. Ms. Turner reported that the new contract is nearly ready to be advertised for bids. The Board stressed the importance of expediting this process to ensure the County is adequately prepared in the event of a storm. b) Supervisor Powers raised concerns regarding ongoing traffic issues near Buc-ee’s, specifically the inadequacy of the current roundabout design and surrounding infrastructure to manage existing traffic volume. Chief Craig Necaise reported that there were 69 service calls related to Buc-ee’s and the surrounding traffic areas in May 2025, with no accidents, and 261 service calls with 8 reported traffic accidents in June 2025 in the same area-highlighting growing public safety concerns. County Engineer Jaci Turner stated that the roundabout falls under the County’s responsibility and that she will contact Buc-ee’s representatives to explore possible solutions. c) Supervisor Ladner inquired about the procedure for renaming a street. The Board Attorney explained that the process is not difficult but requires formal Board approval. Additionally, notice must be provided to E911 and all relevant agencies when naming or renaming a street.
