The following came on for discussion by the Board: a) The Board Attorney advised that the Federal Courts dismissed all Civil Rights claims on the Carter Case and the case will fall back into the state claims as a tort claim, pending any appeal that may be filed. b) Supervisor Ladner requested an update on the Facility Diversion Center. The Board Attorney advised that he sent a letter to Mr. Schwartz and the response was that Mr. Schwartz is working on it. The Board Attorney advised that one option is the Board could approve a lease that included "subject to provisions being resolved." c) Supervisor Powers discussed the need for the disabled adults at the IDD Building to be relocated to the Maples Shelter. It was explained that ARPA funds are funding the project. Jaclyn Turner, County Engineer, explained that the bid and award of the project should be by the end of the fiscal year (August 2024). Chief Sullivan explained that he would like to verify that upgrades are complete and fire alarm systems operational before placing persons in the building. There will be more discussion at the April 8, 2024 Board of Supervisors meeting. d) Supervisor Powers requested information regarding the start date for the Landon/Canal Road project due to many inquiries about the project. Douglas Rackley, State Aid Engineer, advised that it should be two to three months prior the start of the project and there is a 100-day working contract. e) The Board President requested an update from the engineering firm on the condition of the parking garage in Gulfport. f) Mr. Troy Peterson noted that he will send information to the Supervisors regarding funding.
