Sponsor: City Manager’s Office Authorizing the City Manager to sign a Torch Relay Agreement with LA28 for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games; stating the Council’s intent to provide funding for certain City services in connection with the LA28 Olympic Torch Relay if the City is selected; directing the City Manager to include funding in the 2027-28 and 2028-29 annual budget to cover any and all required City services, including but not limited to police, fire, traffic, EMS, transportation, sanitation, and all other contractual obligations to support the 2028 Olympic Torch Relay in Kansas City and all related events and activities; appropriating $1,000.00 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Development Services Fund (2210) to cover preliminary costs associated with the submittal; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.
