Sponsor: Mayor Quinton Lucas COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE Amending Chapter 70, Code of Ordinances, by repealing and replacing Section 70-1, Definitions; amending Chapter 70, Code of Ordinances, by enacting a new Section 70-706 entitled “Electric bicycles - rights and privileges - label, requirements - modifications require new label - product safety standards - authorized to ride, where, exceptions - class 3 electric bicycles, special provisions” for the purpose of updating and adding definitions, providing operating requirements, and establishing rights and privileges associated with electric bicycles, micro-mobility devices, and electric motorcycles in alignment with state law; and directing the City Manager to coordinate distribution of public safety education material regarding electric bicycles and micro-mobility devices throughout Kansas City.
