- Ikata Committee Report - Renee/Tammy/Kim1. Dates of Trip to Japan: RW Depart 7/18 from Mnpls, Depart from Tokyo back to Mnpls 8/1. Ikata arrives in RW 8/3 and departs Mnpls for Ikata on 8/12. We have quotes for airline tickets around $2600-2700 per person with all fees. 2. A motion and second is needed to authorize city staff to purchase the five airline tickets for the students and chaperone. Any difference in cost for the airfare/travel package and what has been raised by the students will need to be covered by the families prior to leaving for Ikata in July. 3. Colvill Courtyard is reserved for Monday, 8/5 from 5-7 for the Welcome Dinner. Baypoint Pavillion is reserved for Sunday 8/11 from 5-7 for the farewell picnic. Budgets for these events will be determined and voted on at the July meeting. 4. Update on bagging or additional fundraising scheduled in May and June.5. Still waiting to hear exactly what the homestay situation versus guest house will look like in Japan. We are waiting on names of the students coming from Ikata. Andrew will be getting us the details on the touring package for the first few days in Japan where the students will be in Tokyo, Kyoto and a third destination before traveling to Ikata. 6. Vote on any expenses that need to be incurred before our next official meeting (Saints Game tickets for students??) Set a budget for these types of expenses based on the funds set aside at the beginning of the year. 7. August 8, Sister Cities Commission members and Staff Liaison will bring some of the ikota students and RW students to Pier 55 at 9:30 to give a presentation on the commission and our programs at the Golden K Kiwanis meeting.
