Submitting report relative to Request for Opinion dated April 18, 2016. (The Board of Ethics is unable to provide an Opinion to Council President Brenda Jones request dated April 19, 2016. While your request addresses an issue receiving much public scrutiny, the Board of Ethics is only authorized to provide Advisory Opinions requested by Public Servants regarding that servant’s own conduct. The Board of Ethics refers you to Section 2-106.9(a) of the 2012 Detroit City Charter. Similar language is echoed in the Ethics Ordinance at Section 2-6-101(a).
