  2. A. Community art grant1. Peace Action Maine & artist Stephen Oliver. The Portland public art committee is request to review the community art grant proposal entitled ASTRAGAL, a small faceted columnar sculpture intended to promote Peace individually and collectively. The sculpture’s inspiration came from Peace Action Maine’s desire to express a long-term commitment to fostering peace, by the International Peace Pole Movement, and to honor the legacy of former board member Tina Malcolmson. B. Sarah Sze artwork in Congress Square Park (Cole, Hancock, Whipple): 1. Subcommittee updates and coordination with the Congress Square Redesign Capital Campaign Committee. No updates C. Conservation Projects – ACTIVE 1. Jewell Box – Staff recommends further consideration to modify the artwork that promotes greater safety and longevity (potential options may include lighting for greater nighttime visibility, addition of glass film as sacrificial layer to address ongoing graffiti and bench modification).2. Passing the Torch – Staff has requested the LED bulb replacement estimate from on-call electrical company that previously replaced the stem light fixtures. 3. Rustle Diptych II – Staff to proceed with purchase of inground lighting fixtures from Delta. Staff has requested a revised estimate from on-call electrical company to install new fixtures. 4. Langlais Birdhouse Heads – Staff requested a conservation quote from Tuckerbrook Conservation LLC for the minor vandalism of one Birdhouse Head at Deering High School. No updates. 5. Langlais Acrobatic Dogs – Staff received fabricated plaque and is in coordination with Jetport operations staff to assist with install. 6. Portland Bricks – Committee members and Staff met with artist Ayumi Horie regarding the lost Portland Bricks during the Congress Street brick sidewalk replacement project. Artist to provide quote for missing bricks and schedule. No updates 7. East Bayside mural (Dennehy) – Committee member Sharon Dennehy provide an analysis of the mural removal with dimensions and product recommendations. Staff in coordination with Parks Recreation and Facilities department to determine next steps. No updates.
