Agenda — 1 item

  1. Low Mow Month Ends on April 30Our first ever Low Mow Month was a success, with 31 homes participating. This was a joint effort between Sustainability and Code to ensure residents know what the Code states, know they have up to 8 inches of turf/lawn growth, and that they can also use lawn alternatives, all in order to protect pollinators. By participating in Low Mow Month, residents signed up to not mow their lawn as frequently as they may typically, giving birds, bees, and butterflies a better chance to fully come out of their winter slump and prepare them for a busy summer. Low Mow Month uses less resources, e.g. less energy on electric mowers, less fuel for gas-powered mowers, less water and fertilizer, and therefore also produces less stormwater run off during the month.Sustainability staff will continue this effort each spring and will likely have yard signs made in the future.
