- Green Bowie Expo & 2026 Green Citizen Award Recipient: Linda CooperOn Saturday, April 18, the City co-sponsored the 12th Annual Green Bowie Expo with the Bowie Lions Club at Tasker Middle School. The Expo brings together green vendors, community organizations, the Lion’s Club and Leo’s and the Green Bowie Green team to highlight sustainable practices and products for everyday living. Over 300 community members attended, along with more than 40 vendors and community organizations. The annual Green Citizen Award was announced at the Expo and Linda Cooper is the 2026 recipient. Linda is the true embodiment of what it means to be a “green citizen.” She is someone who rolls up her sleeves, gets their hands dirty and inspires everyone around them to do the same. For 11 years, Linda was the co-lead of the Green Team’s Natural Resource work group. During her tenure, she expanded the team from 5 to 20 active volunteers, launched the Weed Warrior program to combat English ivy in the City and helped complete 4 pollinator gardens at Kenhill Center, the Senior Center, Belair Meadows and Centennial Park. In everything Linda has done, one thread runs through it all: a deep belief that education and citizen leadership can change the world — and that it starts in your own backyard. The City thanks Linda for her years of service and is so appreciative of the lasting legacy she has left.
