- Resolution Honoring Rinus Oosthoek for 20 Years of Service to the Salem Chamber of Commerce and the City of Salem. WHEREAS: Rinus Oosthoek has served with distinction as the Executive Director of the Salem Chamber of Commerce for twenty years; andWHEREAS: Under his visionary leadership, the City of Salem has experienced remarkable and unprecedented growth, particularly in the downtown area, with renewed vibrancy in tourism, business, and community engagement; andWHEREAS: Rinus played a pivotal role in the relaunch and revitalization of Salem Main Streets and Destination Salem, initiatives that have significantly boosted visitation and enhanced the city's cultural and economic vitality; andWHEREAS: Rinus has been a steadfast supporter of Salem’s retail, service, and restaurant sectors, contributing to their renewal and ongoing success; andWHEREAS: Rinus’s commitment to the Salem community extended beyond his work at the Chamber of Commerce, with notable service on the boards of Salem High School’s Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee, the City’s Economic Development Recovery and Revitalization Taskforce, the Salem Partnership, and the Salem State University Assistance Corporation, among others; andWHEREAS: Rinus’s leadership, dedication, and collaborative spirit have left a profound and positive legacy on the economic and civic fabric of Salem; NOW, THEREFORE, we, Dominick Pangallo, Mayor of the City of Salem, and the City Council of the City of Salem, do herby recognize and honor Rinus Oosthoek for a career of outstanding service, invaluable contributions, and unwavering commitment to the City of Salem, and extend our deepest gratitude and best wishes for a joyful and well-deserved retirement.
