CONSIDERATION OF FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) 2018 FIRE PREVENTION AND SAFETY GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $75,109 FOR A FIRE SAFETY HOUSE . Presented by: Lawrence Tangney RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the application for the grant, and if awarded, authorize acceptance of the grant, and establish budget authority as provided in the Financial Considerations section of this request. Sedgwick County Fire District #1 is requesting approval to apply for the 2018 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant. The purpose of the grant program is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire and fire-related hazards by assisting fire prevention programs and supporting firefighter health and safety. The safety house is a trailer that can be moved to various locations and is designed to instruct adults and children in fire safety and weather-related emergencies. The house will provide the opportunity to train the public in several areas: . Fire safety . Exit Drills in the Home (E.D.I.T.H.) . Burn and scald prevention; Cooking Safety . Stop, Drop, and Roll .
