Recommending the following: 1. ADOPTION of Resolution 24-134, to approve for inclusion in the 2025 Hawai‘i State Association of Counties Legislative Package a proposed State bill to establish a deferred retirement option program for police and to provide a retention tool for county police departments to incentivize qualified officers who are eligible for retirement to continue working; and 2. ADOPTION of Resolution 24-135, to approve for inclusion in the 2025 Maui County Council Legislative Package a proposed State bill to establish a deferred retirement option program for police and to provide a retention tool for county police departments to incentivize qualified officers who are eligible for retirement to continue working.
