MAYOR'S REPORT A. CIVILITY ACTION: (T-1:04 PM) Mayor Rich discussed the importance of respecting differing opinions and working together. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.) B. MAYOR’S GALA ACTION: (T-1:05 PM) Mayor Rich reported attending the Mayor’s Gala at the Seminole Hard Rock. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.) C. AFFORDABLE HOUSING ACTION: (T-1:06 PM) Mayor Rich discussed the passage of the Affordable Housing 10-year Action Plan. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.) D. 25th ANNIVERSARY ACTION: (T-1:09 PM) Mayor Rich reported attending the 25th Anniversary of the Broward Partnership for Homeless. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.) E. LIBRARY AWARDS ACTION: (T-1:13 PM) Mayor Rich congratulated Broward County Library in receiving the Intellectual Freedom Award from the Florida Library Association and recognized Library Division Director Allison Grubbs in receiving the Administrator of the Year by the Florida Library Association. In addition, Mayor Rich congratulated Division Director Allison Grubbs in receiving the Toni Morrison Courage Award for fighting against book banning. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.) In response to Mayor Rich, Vice-Mayor Furr noted that support from the Board has given staff security in their actions. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.) F. HEALTH COLLOBRATIVE ACTION: (T-1:16 PM) Mayor Rich announced the opening of the Black Maternal Health Collaborative, funded by the Health Foundation of South Florida, which focuses on “maternity desert” areas in the community. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.) G. MOTHER’S DAY ACTION: (T-1:17 PM) Mayor Rich announced that her mother’s 102nd birthday is on Mother’s Day on May 12. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.)
