Consider recommendations regarding elective coverage of State Disability Insurance for Deputy Public Defenders, Bargaining Unit 20, as follows: a) Adopt a resolution to: i) Approve the election of coverage under the California State Disability Insurance (SDI) program, including Paid Family Leave (PFL), for employees in Bargaining Unit 20 (Deputy Public Defenders), pursuant to section 710.5 of the California Unemployment Insurance Code; ii) Approve the Chair to execute the Application for Elective Coverage of State Disability Insurance Only (Form DE 1378N) and approve filing with California Employment Development Department (EDD) the executed application for Bargaining Unit 20 - Deputy Public Defenders; and iii) Authorize Human Resources Director, or designee, to submit the executed application, the resolution, and any other documentation required by EDD, and to take such administrative actions as are necessary to implement SDI coverage for Bargaining Unit 20 following approval of the election by EDD; and b) Determine that the above actions are government organizational or administrative activities that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment and are therefore not a project under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to State CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5).
