RESOLUTION NO. 2017-103 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA IN SUPPORT OF ASSEMBLY BILL 805 (Gonzalez Fletcher) This bill would modify rules applicable to the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) to, among other things, (1) provide for the Mayors of San Diego and Chula Vista to serve as the rotating Chair and Vice Chair, (2) provide for a “weighted voting” system at the board level based on population, (3) allow MTS and NCTD to impose transactions and use taxes up to .5% for public transit purposes within their jurisdictions subject to voter approval, and (4) create an “audit committee” tasked with contracting with an independent auditor to review SANDAG finances. Recommended Action: Council adopt the resolution.
