VEHICLE THEFT TASK FORCE IGA RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 14-1659 RENEWING THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT (IGA) BETWEEN THE CITY OF GOODYEAR AND THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ARIZONA VEHICLE THEFT TASK FORCE; AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE FUTURE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENTS AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS FOR AGREEMENT ADMINISTRATION NOT TO EXCEED FIVE FISCAL YEARS ENDING JUNE 30, 2020. PURPOSE: This council action will ratify the IGA with the DPS to continue the Goodyear Police Department’s participation with the Vehicle Theft Task Force. In exchange for the City assigning an officer to participate with the Vehicle Theft Task Force, the City is reimbursed 75% of the salary of the officer and 100% of the officer’s pre-authorized task force related overtime. The Police Department is further seeking prior authorization from Council to annually renew the AZ Department of Public Safety Intergovernmental Agreement to participate in the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force. If approved, the City Manager would be authorized to approve future IGA’s and execute any and all documents for Agreement administration not to exceed five fiscal years ending June 30, 2020. (Jerry Geier, Chief of Police)
