CITY CHARTER AMENDMENT TO CHANGE ELECTION DATES RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT ORDINANCE 14-1303 SUBMITTING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE II, SECTION 3 OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF GOODYEAR, TO CHANGE THE DATES OF CITY ELECTIONS TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH ARIZONA HB 2826 WHICH REQUIRES THAT ELECTIONS FOR POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS IN THE STATE BE HELD IN THE FALL OF EVEN-NUMBERED YEARS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. PURPOSE: This Ordinance will refer to the voters of the City the question of whether to change the City Charter to move the City’s current City Council election schedule in spring of odd-numbered years to the fall of even-numbered years in compliance with Arizona House Bill 2826.
