CANYON TRAILS PLAZA COMPREHENSIVE SIGN PACKAGE RECOMMENDATION: Approve an amendment to the Canyon Trails Plaza Comprehensive Sign Package, dated March 1, 2006, for a 19.6-acre mixed-use retail and office development generally located on the west side of Estrella Parkway, one-quarter mile north of Van Buren Street, on property zoned Planned Area Development/General Commercial (PAD/C-2), within the Canyon Trails PAD, subject to one stipulation. PURPOSE: The Canyon Trails Plaza is a 19.6-acre mixed-use retail and office development located on the west side of Estrella Parkway, one-quarter mile north of Van Buren Street. The subject request is for an amendment to the Comprehensive Sign Package for the Canyon Trails Plaza, which would allow the placement of wall signs on the two-story office buildings within the center. Staff finds the requested amendment is appropriate for the site as the signage proposed for the two-story buildings will be consistent with the existing signage on the one-story office building in terms of size, design and configuration. The Planning and Zoning Commission considered this item at its regular meeting of May 21, 2014 and unanimously voted (5-0) to forward a recommendation of approval to the City Council.
