IGA WITH ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FIBER OPTICS ALONG VAN BUREN STREET FROM ESTRELLA PARKWAY TO COTTON LANE RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT RESOLUTION 14-1611 AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT (JPA 14-0004049-I) WITH THE STATE OF ARIZONA, ACTING BY AND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO ESTABLISH RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDING, PURCHASING, INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES OF FIBER OPTIC CONDUIT, CABLE AND EQUIPMENT ALONG VAN BUREN STREET FROM ESTRELLA PARKWAY TO COTTON LANE IN THE CITY OF GOODYEAR. PURPOSE: This project will install fiber optic conduit, fiber optic cable and ITS equipment along Van Buren Street from Estrella Parkway to Cotton Lane in the City of Goodyear utilizing Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funding. It is included in the Maricopa Association of Governments’ (MAG) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) as a project to help mitigate air quality issues within the MAG Region. Once completed City staff will be able to monitor traffic, adjust traffic signal timings and coordinate traffic signals along this corridor from a central location.
