GRANT APPLICATION FOR STABILIZER JACKS RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT RESOLUTION 14-1609 RATIFYING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY (GOHS) FOR EQUIPMENT; AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS FOR GRANT ADMINISTRATION; AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE FUTURE GOHS GRANT SUBMISSIONS NOT EXCEEDING $75,000 AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS FOR GRANT ADMINISTRATION. PURPOSE: The Goodyear Fire Department is seeking to ratify the submission of a grant application to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for Stabilizer Jacks which, if granted, will reimburse the Fire Department $6,250 for equipment that will be used at the scene of accidents involving overturned vehicles. The Fire Department is further seeking prior authorization from Council to annually apply for GOHS grants in the future for equipment and/or funding for personnel services expenses in an amount not to exceed $75,000. If approved, the City Manager would be designated with the authority to approve the application and execute all documents necessary and specific to the GOHS grant.
