GRANT FOR A THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT RESOLUTION 14-1604 TO ACCEPT THE 2014 ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT FOR $15,000 TO FUND A THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA; AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR THE AWARD AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE GRANT. PURPOSE: The City of Goodyear has deployed a CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosive) response unit using Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDoHS) Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) funding since 2007. Reallocated funds have been awarded for the Goodyear program to enhance service through improved search, rescue, and hazard detection capabilities by purchasing a state of the art Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) system for the unit.
