GRANT FOR COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM LIVE FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINER RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT RESOLUTION 14-1603 TO ACCEPT THE 2014 ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT TO FUND A LIVE FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINER TO ENHANCE THE CITY OF GOODYEAR COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT) PROGRAM; AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR THE AWARD AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE GRANT. PURPOSE: The City of Goodyear has been conducting CERT training for the residents of Goodyear since 2006. During the fire extinguisher training portion of CERT the Fire Department would assign an engine company to support the live fire training. The purchase of this equipment will enhance safety during the training and prevent having to assign an engine company for support which in turn will alleviate the need take an engine out of service.
