PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE SUBMITTAL OF A CDBG GRANT APPLICATION FOR FY 2014-2015 RECOMMENDATION: 1. City Council conduct a Public Hearing to consider the submittal of one Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to the Maricopa County Human Services Department for the purpose of implementing the projects outlined in the Consolidated Plan for 2012-2015 fiscal years. a. Open Public Hearing b. Staff Presentation c. Receive Public Comment d. Close Public Hearing 2. ADOPT RESOLUTION 14-1593 AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF ONE APPLICATION FOR FY2014-2015 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM FUNDS TO THE MARICOPA COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS RELATING TO SAID APPLICATIONS. PURPOSE: A public hearing is required prior to the submittal of CDBG applications to Maricopa County. The City is proposing submitting one CDBG grant application for the FY2014-2015 funding cycle. The grant application is for up to $500,000 to rehabilitate commercial properties within the City’s Redevelopment Area. The City Council may act on the proposed resolution authorizing the submittal of this grant application upon completion of the public hearing.
