RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING IGA WITH TOHONO O’ODHAM NATION FOR GRANT AWARD RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT RESOLUTION 13-1575, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT #14-2723 WITH THE TOHONO O’ODHAM NATION FOR $16,000 IN GRANT FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO SEGWAYS FOR THE GOODYEAR POLICE DEPARTMENT. PURPOSE: The Tohono O’odham Nation shares a portion of their revenues from tribal gaming directly with local governments to benefit the general public. In June 2013, the Goodyear Police Department applied for a grant for two Segway vehicles. The request for this equipment is consistent with the priorities identified by the Tohono O’odham Nation for their 12% Revenue Sharing program. In September 2013, the City was notified by the Tohono O’odham Nation that the grant application was approved. Authorization of this agreement will allow staff to move forward with the purchase of the vehicles. (Christine McMurdy, Grants Coordinator)
