WATER STORAGE AGREEMENT FOR THE SUPERSTITION MOUNTAINS RECHARGE PROJECT RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT RESOLUTION 13-1573 AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR THE STORAGE OF WATER WITH THE CENTRAL ARIZONA CONSERVATION DISTRICT, SUPERSTITION MOUNTAINS RECHARGE PROJECT. PURPOSE: The purpose of this action is to give the City access to recharge its Central Arizona Project water at an additional Central Arizona Water Conservation District recharge facility-- the Superstition Mountains Recharge Project. In the event that there would be any disruptions in the canal or recharge facilities where the City already holds such an agreement, this facility could be used to recharge water on the City’s behalf. If the City does not hold an agreement to store water at a facility that has capacity when the City is scheduled to take delivery it could forfeit the ability to use its CAP water for replenishment.
