IGA WITH ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FIBER OPTIC CABLE AND EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT RESOLUTION 13-1567 AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF ARIZONA, ACTING BY AND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO ESTABLISH RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDING, PURCHASING, INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES OF FIBER OPTIC CABLE AND EQUIPMENT ALONG INDIAN SCHOOL ROAD FROM SARIVAL AVENUE TO 144TH AVENUE IN THE CITY OF GOODYEAR. PURPOSE: This project will install fiber optic cable and ITS equipment along Indian School Road in the City of Goodyear utilizing Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funding. It is included in the Maricopa Association of Governments’ (MAG) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) as a project to help mitigate air quality issues within the MAG Region. Once completed City staff will be able to monitor traffic, adjust traffic signal timings and coordinate traffic signals along this corridor from a central location.
