RATIFY SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY RECOMMENDATION: ADOPT RESOLUTION 13-1541 (DUI OVERTIME/ERE) RATIFYING SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY (GOHS); AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS FOR GRANT ADMINISTRATION; AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE FUTURE GOHS GRANT SUBMISSIONS NOT EXCEEDING $75,000 AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS FOR GRANT ADMINISTRATION. PURPOSE: The Goodyear Police Department is seeking to ratify the submission of a grant application to the Governor's Office of Highway Safety for DUI Overtime and Employee Related Expenses which, if granted, will reimburse the police department for personnel services (overtime) in the amount of $50,000 and employee related expenses of $11,975 for officer participation in DUI Task Force details. The Police Department is further seeking prior authorization from Council to annually apply for GOHS grants in the future for equipment and/or funding for personnel services/ERE expenses in an amount not to exceed $75,000. If approved, the City Manager would be designated with the authority to approve the application and execute all documents necessary and specific to the GOHS grant. (Jerry Geier, Chief of Police)
