- 5 The committee will meet to interview the following candidate for the vacant seat on the CPC: Kim Brookes. Kim Brookes explained she was excited when she saw the position opened and she read more about what the CPC does. It ties together three things she is interested in Historic Preservation, housing accessibility and affordability and open space and green space for the community. She is a girls soccer coach at Malden High School and this next season will be her last. She wants to be involved in what's going on in Malden and she likes that it called Community Preservation. She is passionate about affordable housing but not up to speed with it. She feels she has been keenly in touch with open spaces and parks playing soccer in Malden. She spent six years as a professional archivist and got a masters in public history. She is interested in historical monuments. She feels comfortable in historic preservation and open/green space. Kim said if she did not agree with a project she would bring it up with the committee and she would want to work together with a group of people towards a common goal. She was on the Board of Malden Youth Soccer. She would like to talk it through and listen to what people were saying. She was thinking about how the CPC could advertise more to get the word out. She said she doesn't have a solution for it but she has done publicity with soccer and in her job and she looks forward to looking how to do that better. She said she would assess a project Following business on the agenda, the Committee will discuss the candidates under consideration for the vacant seat on the CPC and move forward with recommendation on a candidate. Following discussion, votes may be taken on the Committee’s recommendation on appointment to the vacant seat. Motion to report Sam Watters out favorably to the Full Council was made by
- 6 Mayoral Appointment: Hilda Torres, 24 Fleming Road, Malden, as a member of the Malden Redevelopment Authority Board, said term to expire May 1, 2029, and to commence upon confirmation by the City Council.
- 7 Mayoral Appointment: Maria D’Esposito, 81 Floral Avenue, Malden, as an associate member of the Board of Appeal, said term to expire March 1, 2026, to commence upon confirmation by the City Council.
- 8 Council Appointment: Brittany Torelli, 11 Reserve Street, Malden, as a member of the Police Community Advisory Council, said term to commence upon her confirmation by the City Council and to expire May 30, 2025. (Confirmation required)
- 9 Council Appointment: Chloe Cheung, 45 Loomis Street, Unit 119, Malden, as a member of the Police Community Advisory Council, said term to commence upon her confirmation by the City Council and to expire May 30, 2025. (Confirmation required)
