6. 5 SUPERVISOR'S REPORT
7. 6 a. General Updates The supervisor's report was initiated by AAC Supervisor Norma Gavarrete, who discussed the AAC's past events for the month of December and forthcoming programs, such as field trips. AAC Supervisor Norma also mentioned that she had reached the one-year mark as the Supervisor at the AAC and desired to hear the board's perspective on the positive and negative aspects. The board members expressed their satisfaction with her contributions and her participation in including additional programs and events for the AAC. b. Special Events AAC Norma Gavarrete proceeded to update the board on the forthcoming events for the month of February, AAC Sweetheart Dance Luncheon 2025 - Friday, February 14 at 1 p.m. She mentioned that she will follow up in the next meeting if they will have this event. c. Administrative Updates Director Couceyro initiated the administrative updates by informing the board of the City Manager's departure and stating that his last day is February 28. He continued to share upcoming park projects for the department. Director Couceyro proceeded to update the board on the forthcoming events for the month of January, Coral Gables Farmers Market - Saturday, January 18 & 25 at 8 a.m. and Movies Under the Gables Moonlight featuring E.T – Friday, January 17 at 6 p.m. Director Couceyro continued to provide an update on the Blue Road, Toledo and Alava initiatives. She then proceeded to elaborate on the concession for the Venetian Pool, Nellie B. Moore Park, and William & Leona Cooper Park. He also continued to finalize Phillips Park contract updates and continued forthcoming initiatives for the Rotary Centennial Park. Board member James “Jim” Berlin then inquired if the AAC will be attending the Farmer’s Market to advertise the center, AAC Supervisor Norma Gavarrete responded that the AAC has been scheduled to attend on March 1st. James “Jim” Berlin then inquired if there is anything that the board can do to participate in the centennial celebration of the city, which Board Vice Chairperson Kelley Schild then mentioned a 100th Birthday for residents who are 100 years old. A MOTION TO HOLD AN EVENT IN THE HONOR OF AGING AND JOINING THE CENTENIAL CELEBRATION OF THE CITY OF CORAL GABLES WAS MADE BY JAMES “JIM” BERLIN AND WAS SECONED BY KELLEY SCHILD. ALL IN FAVOR; PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
8. 6 A MOTION TO APPROVE THE JANUARY MEETINGS MINUTES WAS MADE BY JAMES “JIM” BERLIN, AND SECOND BY JULIAN SEVILLANO ALL IN FAVOR; PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

13. 10 Staff were informed by board member Judith "Jude" Alexander that she had sent information to be included in the upcoming programming flyers. However, not all the details she supplied were included. AAC Supervisor Norma Gavarrete stated that the marketing staff had just sent her the flyer that day. Director Couceyro stated that he will investigate with his team to see what transpires. whether it came from our team or the Communications & Public Affairs department. Board member James “Jim” Berlin then asked if it would be possible to have candidates come and speak at the AAC to help inform voter’s and encourage them to vote in the upcoming election. Community Recreation Director Fred Couceyro responded that it becomes complicated being a city facility and ensuring that each candidate receives equal time. Board Vice Chairperson Kelley Schild then mentioned voter’s registrations at the AAC which Director Couceyro was open to as long as the center stays away from candidates campaigning in the center. Board member James “Jim” Berlin then inquired if the board would be able to invite the newly elected Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz to meet with the board. Community Recreation Director Fred Couceyro stated that the board is welcome to invite her to attend a meeting, however she may not attend the meeting.
