  20. a) Consider additions of emergency or urgency items to the agenda to be placed on the Consent or Discussion Calendar at the Board’s discretion pursuant to Government Code section 54954.2(b) or (b)(2).
  21. 17 County Counsel, Tom Bunton, stated in the case of Katelyn Renee Brown, et al. v. Betzaleri Gonzales Garcia, et al., the Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to file a cross-complaint against Southern California Edison in this action involving a collision with a Southern California Edison power pole. Chief Executive Officer, Luther Snoke, provided an update on the County's study of the impact of short-term rentals. Land Use Services has been consulting with the third-party vendor, Granicus, and the Assessor's office to acquire additional information necessary to the study. The information was received on January 17, 2024 and Land Use Services needs additional time to review the information and prepare a presentation. The staff presentation is tentatively scheduled for the March 12, 2024 Board Meeting.

  24. 19 Vice Chairman and First District Supervisor Col. Paul Cook (Ret.) complimented San Bernardino County for never forgetting employees and honoring those who served for many years with Resolutions. Fourth District Supervisor Curt Hagman provided an update regarding the following boards he sits on: Homelessness Ad Hoc Committee, Ontario International Airport Authority, Southern California Association of Governments, Inland Empire Health Plan, and South Coast Air Quality Management District. He stated his office is partnering with the City of Chino Hills to host a free document shredding event on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Shoppes in Chino Hills. Supervisor Hagman said he participated in the Chino Basin Water Conservation District’s 75th anniversary celebration. Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. congratulated Brendan Biggs on his retirement and stated the County just received an Active Transportation Grant as a result of his hard work. He provided an update regarding the following board he sits on: Homelessness Ad Hoc Committee. Supervisor Baca, Jr. thanked lobby ambassador, Edgar Villaneuva, for his service. He stated he attended the Human Trafficking Symposium. Supervisor Baca, Jr. highlighted Item No. 26, which is providing 1.5 million dollars to Indian Springs High School and Item No. 48, which is a construction contract for road improvements on Fifth Street and Pedley Road near Monterey Elementary School in San Bernardino. He said he attended the Jayden Daniels parade on January 20, 2024 and wished him the best of luck. Chair and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe highlighted Item No. 57, which accepts a grant from Caltrans for 3.7 million dollars for Sunburst Park in Joshua Tree. She thanked the Department of Public Works for their storm watch efforts over the last few days including preparing equipment and also thanked the first responders. Chair Rowe reminded residents of the County’s new preparedness website.
