Speakers may address the Board for up to three (3) minutes total on the consent calendar, up to three (3) minutes on each discussion item, and up to three (3) minutes total on Public Comment, not to exceed a total of twelve (12) minutes for the meeting, unless it is determined that a different limit is appropriate. Alternate locations to address the Board by interactive video are available at the Bob Burke Joshua Tree Government Center, 63665 Twentynine Palms Highway, Joshua Tree, CA 92252 and the Jerry Lewis High Desert Government Center, 15900 Smoke Tree Street, Hesperia, CA 92345. NOTE: These alternate locations are being offered as a courtesy and may be closed due to inclement weather, if technology fails, or other unforeseen emergency.   26. 21 CONSENT CALENDAR
  27. 21 Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. said his heart goes out to those affected by the fires in Los Angeles and thanked County Fire for sending strike teams. He thanked his commissioners for their service. Supervisor Baca, Jr. highlighted the following items on the agenda: 44, 49, 50, and 69. He highlighted the following events: Omnitrans Transit Equity Day on February 4, 2025, Teen Human Trafficking Awareness, and the Point-In-Time Count on January 23, 2025. Supervisor Baca, Jr. thanked staff for the completion of the 35th Street at Elmwood Storm Drain Replacement Project. He addressed the Public Safety Shutoff events. Second District Supervisor Jesse Armendarez spoke about the fires in Los Angeles. He highlighted the following events he attended: Empire Stryker game night, Omnitrans Bus Rodeo, and Shop with a Senior. Supervisor Armendarez thanked Chair Rowe for her leadership. He congratulated Joe Baca, Jr. on his election to Vice Chair. Fourth District Supervisor Curt Hagman congratulated Dawn Rowe and Joe Baca, Jr. on being elected Chair and Vice Chair and thanked Paul Cook for his service. He said his thoughts are with Los Angeles and thanked everyone for coming together and providing assistance during the fires. Supervisor Hagman highlighted the following item on the agenda: 31. He acknowledged the passing of Myron Saulpaugh. First District Supervisor Col. Paul Cook (Ret.) spoke about the fires in Los Angeles. Chair and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe thanked her colleagues for the kind words and confidence in her. She thanked County departments for their mutual aid relief with the fires in Los Angeles. Supervisor Rowe said the County is communicating with Edison regarding the Power Safety Shutoffs and advocating for the residents.
