SUBJECT: Consideration of the Recommendation from Recreation and Parks Commission to Rename McNamara Playground- Kirk Wright Memorial Playground REPORT IN BRIEF An application has been received to consider renaming the playground at McNamara Park. The application received suggests renaming the site Kirk Wright Memorial Playground. The application has been reviewed by the Director of Parks and Community Services for requirements set forth in Administrative Policy A-20 and was found to be compliant with all requirements and without any identifiable conflict of interest. A public hearing was held by the Recreation and Parks Committee on October 24th. The required Subcommittee of Commissioners and two City Council representatives was present to review the application, ask questions, and make suggestions to the Commission. As a result of the public hearing the Recreation and Parks Commission voted to request City Council’s formal adoption of the name Kirk Wright Memorial Playground for the site at McNamara Park. RECOMMENDATION City Council - Adopt a motion approving the Recreation and Parks Commission recommendation to rename the playground at McNamara Park, Kirk Wright Memorial Playground.
