SUBJECT: Approving the Cooperative Agreement 10-10-0549 with State of California, Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to Plan, Coordinate, and Install Gateway Monuments on Various State Routes and Murals on Various State Highway Structures in and Near City of Merced and Accepting Clean California Grant Program Funding for Project Number 123058 - Gateway Monuments in the Amount of $850,000 REPORT IN BRIEF Considers authorizing a cooperative agreement with Caltrans for the Project Approval and Environmental Document (PA&ED), Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E), and Construction of six (6) Gateway Monuments in and near the City of Merced and accepting $850,000 from the Clean California Grant Program. This will promote enrichment of the cultural and visual environment for transportation users and the local community by facilitating and coordinating the integration of Gateway Monuments within the operation highway right-of-way through the encroachment permit process. RECOMMENDATION City Council - Adopt a motion: A. Approving the cooperative agreement to plan, coordinate, and install Gateway monuments on various state routes at the City of Merced; and, B. Accepting Clean California Grant Program funds and increasing revenue in fund 450-1104-324.02-00 by $850,000 and appropriating the same to fund 450-1104-637.65-00-Project No. 123058 Gateway Monuments; and, C. Approving the use of pooled cash until reimbursement is received from the grant; and, D. Authorizing the City Manager or the Deputy City Manager to execute the necessary documents.
