SUBJECT: Approval to Waive the Competitive Bidding Requirement and Approval of the Purchase and Installation of New Motorola Radio Consoles for the Emergency Communications Dispatch Center in an Amount not to Exceed $557,000 REPORT IN BRIEF Considers waiving the competitive bidding requirements for the purchase and authorizing the purchase (including installation costs) of six (6) new Motorola radio consoles for the City’s emergency communications dispatch center in an amount not to exceed $557,000. RECOMMENDATION City Council - Adopt a motion: A. Waiving the competitive bidding requirements, as stated in Section 3.04.210 of the Merced Municipal Code due to standardization; and, B. Authorizing the City to purchase the requested radio equipment through Motorola Inc and J’s Communications, Inc. for equipment and installation costs not to exceed $557,000; and, C. Authorizing the City Manager or Deputy City Manager to execute any necessary contracts or documents needed related to this report.
