SUBJECT: Approval of Request for Supplemental Appropriation from the General Fund (Coronavirus Relief Funds) in the Amount of $20,000.00 to Fund 001-2002-572-29-00 (Economic Development - Other Materials and Supplies) to Create a Program Supporting Local Businesses Adapting to the COVID Purple Tier Re-Designation REPORT IN BRIEF Staff is requesting a Supplemental Appropriation of Coronavirus Relief Funds not to exceed $20,000.00 to create a grant program assisting local businesses who are adjusting to COVID-19 Purple Tier regulations. Businesses or organizations transitioning to outdoor operations such as restaurants, churches, fitness studios/gyms, yoga studios and so on are the targeted businesses. RECOMMENDATION City Council - Adopt a motion: A. Approving a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $20,000 from the unreserved, unencumbered General fund balance of the Coronavirus Relief Funds to account 001-2002-572-29-00 (Other Materials and Supplies - Economic Development, Project #242010); and, B. Directing staff to develop guidelines and regulations and establish a grant program aiding businesses transitioning to outdoor operations while under the Blueprint for a Safer Economy Purple Tier; and, C. Directing staff to reach out to the Merced Boosters seeking matching funds to supplement the program; and, D. Authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute the necessary documents.
