SUBJECT: Report - Update to the City Council on the Soccer Academy of Merced, Inc.’s Tax-Exempt Status REPORT IN BRIEF Soccer Academy of Merced, Inc.’s tax-exempt status was revoked on or around October 11, 2017. To date, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has not reinstated tax-exempt status. The City Council has requested a report on the efforts staff have taken to address this issue. RECOMMENDATION In the event that the Soccer Academy of Merced, Inc. is unable to resolve their current tax-exempt status, staff are seeking direction from the City Council on what next steps should be taken for the use of the Stephen Leonard Park Youth Center.
