As customary, to assist the Committee in researching potential names, staff provided Committee with a list of past Mayors at the June 28, 2024, meeting, and public comments were heard. Additionally, staff created a survey With a QR code that was posted at the proposed site and through the City’s social media platforms. The Survey closed on Monday, July 8, 2024. The Committee was provided with full data from the survey. In summary, the results included 163 participants with 167 names suggested. Of these names, 15 did not qualify due to the fact that the names have already be utilized in the naming of a park oF a space within a park, which is against the criteria in Resolution 2017-25. Removing the disqualified names, only 3 names remained with more than one recommendation, of which an overwhelming majority suggesting “Huntington Central Park Nature Plateau.” At this meeting, the Committee shall once again hear public comment and review naming options in accordance with the Resolution.
