1. 1 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION INSTRUCTIONS: The meeting will be open to the public. The meeting will also be live-streamed via Zoom. Although the County strives to offer remote participation, be advised that remote Zoom participation is provided for convenience only. 9. 11 REPORTS Judges Comments (5 minutes) Judge Mayberry was not in attendance but emailed prior to the meeting notifying Commission of a schedule conflict and that there was nothing new to report Juvenile Treatment Center-Deputy Chief Probation Officer/Assistant Deputy Chief Probation Officer (5 min) 13 youth- 10male 3 female. No Use of Force to report. One Youth from Trinity County. Lake Room (De-escalation Room) now open. Youth exposed to it but not aware of any referrals or self referrals to it yet. Chief Probation Officer (10 minutes) -CPO from Trinity County reached out with need for placement for one youth. CPO Richart gave several referrals however none were willing to take this youth. CPO Richart had a conversation with the staff at the EDC JTC let the staff decide if they were willing to take this youth given needs required. The staff agreed to take youth and assumed the critical care needed until placement in an alternate facility could be arranged. - BSCC spot inspection - no issues to report - Next week is PPPS Week - Presentation to the BOS on Tuesday 7/23/24. Probation staff appreciation events all week - Would like to invite Deanna from Commission for Youth & Families to meet and discuss where there can be shared interest Treasurer's Report (5 minutes) - It was mentioned at the June 17, 2024 meeting to talk about Foundation Fees at this meeting on July 16, 2024. - push this to August agenda. Would like to set up meetings to discuss grant opportunities and also discuss non-profit status options Leadership Team (10 minutes) - Nothing to report Ad Hoc Committee: Education Ad Hoc Committee Update (10 minutes) Commissioners Hurley, Monterosso, and Berger set up time to meet. Would like to focus on schools with low income populations. Now that school is gearing back up to start in August. Commissioner Hurley will reach out to see where the needs are. Look to set a budget cap at approx $1000. Potential ideas include: Field Trip support, supplies, etc - tangible not perishable items but reach out to school and see what their needs are. Discussed other ideas where JJDPC can support: -Schedule assistance with transportation from West Slope to South Lake Tahoe for families with youth at the JTC - discussed gas cards or possible assistance with El Dorado Transit. -Assistance with Field Trips for JTC youth -bikes for youth
10. 12 NEW BUSINESS Talked about if there is an option to set up TEAMS or Zoom meetings with JTC youth and their parents - having a schedule and designated space on both slopes for both you and family for accessibility. Idea of bikes for juveniles on probation Looking at other counties and similar commissions and how they are set up (San Diego, Napa, Sonoma,...) - Does the Brown Act apply? Commissioner Monterosso offered to check with County Council to confirm. Discussed updating the Bylaws to incorporate ability to vote on items via email. Looking into this further and add to an upcoming agenda.
11. 13 El Dorado Community Foundation Nonprofit Volunteer Fair August 15th in South Lake Tahoe and August 29th in Placerville Work on creating a flyer/brochure of information about the JJDCP and possibly attending the Volunteer Fair under Service Organization to get more information on this commission out to the public and help with recruiting efforts.
