- 1 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION INSTRUCTIONS: The meeting will be open to the public. The meeting will also be live-streamed via Zoom. Although the County strives to offer remote participation, be advised that remote Zoom participation is provided for convenience only. Except for a noticed teleconference meeting, the Commission reserves the right to conduct the meeting without remote access if there is a malfunction. - 10 REPORTS Judge's Comments (5 minutes) - Not in attendance Juvenile Treatment Center Assistant Deputy Chief Probation Officer (5 minutes) ADCPO Beth Borovich was in attendance and reported out: Current population in the JTC: 12 - There are (5) 16yr olds, (1) 14yr old, (1) 17 yr old, (1) 20yr old, (1) 13yr old, and (1) 23yr old. The 23yr old has been with the EDC JTC for approx 8 months. One female youth is from Modoc County. Both pods are open and populated. 4 youth have IEPs. There have been 2 use of force - one pertaining to a suicide attempt. Youth was taken to Barton for observation and treatment. Youth has been released and back at the JTC. Roof repairs have been made in preparation for the change in weather and snow. New carpet installation is underway. - 12 DISCUSSION ITEMS Discussion around recruiting and marketing for the commission. Commission members agreed, the main focus should be on getting the positions filled on the commission. Julie Oates created a draft with information on the commission and shared this with the members via email for their review and feedback. Teri Monterosso reviewed and gave feedback. Julie is working on getting this information added to the Probation website and creating a JJDCP informational webpage associated with the application links. She will create a QR code and will work with Teri's Exec. Assistant on creating a flyer (tri-fold to hand out and single page to post) Once the webpage is live the QR code can be added to the flyers for quick access to additional information as well as direct access to the applications. Julie reached out to the BOS to request information on the JJDPC as well as vacancies be added to their website under: * Boards, Commissions, and Committees * Boards, Commissions, and Committees Notice of Vacancies-El Dorado County This is a work in progress and she will keep the commission members informed as to updates. In the Probation Social Media meeting, Julie made a request to include JJDPC information to social media posts including recruitment as well as events and/or support/scholarships the JJDPC is involved in. This was approved. Julie will work with the commission on informational posts for social media starting with reaching out to Teri Monterosso to get information on the computer scholarships as well as information on recruitment, and the $1000. donation to support field trip at Independence. Julie is also working on draft Press Releases to send for recruitment as well as JJDPC activities to help promote this commission. She will share these with the commission for review and feedback. Looking ahead: Reach out to the courts and see where the JJDPC can be added to the online presence. Possible cross marketing with other JJDPC Commissions in other counties.
